During a festive happy hour at the InselAir Headquarters travel agents from Curacao gathered together to participate in the Travel Agent Appreciation Event. This yearly event is a very important moment for InselAir to show its appreciation and gratitude for all travel agents that support and do their utmost to help InselAir achieve its mission of becoming an airline of choice in the Pan American region.
A personal thank you
Edward Heerenveen, Chief International and General Affairs, addressed the travel agents personally and thanked them for their continued support. Heerenveen also emphasized on the importance that only by working as a team and by putting the customer’s needs first we will all be able to “Reach Higher”.

Curacao Airport ONLY allows transit passengers to transit tax free bought gels & liquids to other destinations from Curacao, when bottles are less that 100ml/3 oz and are in zip-lock bags.
Willemstad - Passengers, either boarding at or transferring through our airport, as of March 15, 2013 will go through a liquid, aerosols and gel (LAGs) control, irrespective of their destination. The LAGs control is ruled by ICAO and TSA (in the US) and has been ordered by the Curaçao Civil Aviation Authority to be introduced at this moment in Curaçao. CAP, in order to introduce the LAGs control, will introduce a third screening machine and line and bring some changes in the Departure Screening Point. The airport tax counter has already been moved downstairs and is operational as of February 18th. CAP, will on the occasion of the introduction of the LAGs control in cooperation with its partners, start a information campaign to inform passengers boarding as those transferring through our airport of the introduction of LAGs control at the Curaçao International Airport.
The LAGs control was introduced in 2006 as the international response after and attempted liquid bomb attack in an airplane in the UK. The introduction of the LAGs check at Hato Airport is an important step in further ensuring the security of the passengers. CAP decided to provide and additional screening machines and manpower in order to be sure that this additional check can be performed without delays. The additional screening machine also makes sure the airport is prepared for growth of especially Curacao’s local carriers. The introduction of the LAGs control implies that each passenger is allowed to have in their carry-on baggage 100 milliliter or smaller containers of liquids or gels in a 1 quart-size, clear plastic, zip-top bag. Containers with more than 100 milliliter of liquid or gel are permitted in checked luggage. The bag limits the total volume per person. Only 1 bag per traveler is allowed to be placed in the security bin.
What should be considered as LAGs? Any thing you can pour, pump, squeeze, spread, smear, spray or spilled should be considered as a LAG. This includes water and other drinks, soup, syrups, jams, stews, sauces and pastes, creams, lotions, cosmetics and oils, sprays, perfumes, hair and shower gels, shaving and other foams, deodorants, pastes (including toothpaste), liquid-solid mixtures, mascara, lip gloss or lip balm or any other item of similar consistency at room temperature. Please note that baby formula and –food, breast milk and juice and medically necessary liquids and gels, including medications are exempted of the LAGs control. It’s not required for them to be carried in a zip-top bag. Furthermore LAGS bought inside the departure hall must be packed and sealed by staff at tax free stores. This seal is valid for a period of one day. It is not allowed to tamper with the bag nor seal.
Those transferring in the USA must also be aware that at LAGs must be checked-in luggage at US airports.
CAP will initiate, in cooperation with its partners, an information campaign at the introduction of the LAGs control. The campaign comes close to the 3-1-1 campaign used in many other countries who has introduced this kind of control. CAP also apologizes for eventual inconvenience caused due to the work done in the next weeks at the departure screening point in order to guaranty a swift introduction of the LAG control.

6th MD-83 arrives this Friday
Willemstad, Curacao - Another MD-83, which will be added to InselAir’s fleet, will be number 12 for InselAir. This airplane has just finished its C-check in South Africa and it will leave on March 13 to Curacao where it is expected to land on Friday March 15 2013.
Already the 12th plane for InselAir.
“We can vividly remember when our first jet airplane arrived in Curacao which was also an MD-83. It arrived in Curacao on December 23 of 2006. There were great expectations of the Curacao population concerning this new company InselAir and a large crowd came to the airport to welcome this first plane. Today we see that those expectations were reached and even surpassed,” according to Edward Heerenveen, Chief General and International Affairs van InselAir.
InselAir is, with 16 destinations and its own planes, a solid company
With the arrival of the 12th plane, InselAir consolidates and even enhances its position as one of the bigger airlines in the region and of course of Curacao. With 16 destinations InselAir is an important player, also taken into account that shortly InselAir Aruba will start flights from InselAir’s second hub, Aruba. The MD-83, which will be arriving on Friday March 15 2013, will be operating on the known routes of InselAir and also on the new routes that InselAir will start in 2013. With the purchase of the MD-83 we can announce that 9 of the 12 aircraft are owned by InselAir. The fleet consists now of 3 Embraer Bandeirantes, 3 Fokker -50’s and 6 MD-82/83’s which will be operated and maintained by local personnel.
Significant contribution to Aruba’s and Curacao’s economy
InselAir Curacao and Aruba also guarantee that all earnings will stay in Curacao and Aruba and will flow directly into the local economies via the Central Bank and other banks on Curacao and Aruba, rather than to let it flow into a foreign economy. By putting this extra airplane into service we are convinced that we will minimize delays and cancelations by always having a backup plane available. That is why in our publications you can often read that ONLY INSELAIR will give you the assurance and services you are entitled to. This is illustrated by the fact that InselAir became a member of the White list of Europe, it is certified by the FAA in the USA, certified by the CAA in Curacao and the completion of the certification in Aruba last year gave us the right to start up InselAir Aruba. InselAir, in 2011, already successfully received its certification of IOSA, which is the IATA Operational Safety Audit, a certification that is only given to a company that could demonstrate to have complied with all the criteria of IATA (International Air Transport Association).
For that reason InselAir has started – being the first airline to do so on Curacao – executing heavy maintenance, such as C-checks, on its own planes, which results in around 40 extra jobs and will also generate new and more business for suppliers that are involved in these C-checks. Besides that, also major investments are planned to build a new hangar. All work will be done locally on Curacao and also all financial resources will remain in the local economy of Curacao. Lots of companies have tried to upgrade to receive this IOSA certification but none in our direct region have yet succeeded in this. Therefore InselAir is very proud to be able to say again: “ONLY INSELAIR - IOSA Certificated National Carrier of Curacao”.

Starting March 1st 2013 the airport departure tax of InselAir flights leaving Aruba Airport will be included in the ticket price. Last November the same process has already been implemented in Sint Maarten. This all leads to more travel convenience for our customers.
