InselAir baggage allowance, fees, conditions & restrictions  

For all aircraft (Fokker 50, Fokker 70 and MD):

Carry-on luggage allowance
Allowance: 1 x 10 kg
Size (max): 55 x 35 x 20 cm
Plus: 1 extra personal item
Size: 50cm x 30cm x 20cm
Must fit under the seat and cannot have wheels

Check-in luggage allowance
Allowance: 1 x 23 kg = FREE
Weight: 23 - 32 kg = USD 40 flat fee
Size: L+H+W < 158 cm 

*Passengers traveling from Paramaribo to Miami are allowed 2 checked in bags up to 23 kilo’s.

This offer ends June 15th 2015 with blackout dates between March 27th and April 19th 2015.

Odd-sized & special baggage
Luggage is considered 'odd-sized' if it doesn’t meet the general luggage specifications. Odd-sized baggage cannot be transported on the EMB-110 and Fokker 50 aircraft. Baggage will be sent on the next available Fokker 70 or MD-80 flight.
 Limited space is available per aircraft and per flight so it is advised to contact our Customer Service Department* in case you have odd-sized baggage to transport.

Boxes
A box can be considered a regular piece of luggage; regular luggage allowance and measurements apply. Maximum weight per box = 23 kg. If weight is more than 32 kg, box must be shipped through InselAir Cargo**. Box must be of high quality hard carton. Box must be well packed and completely closed. InselAir crew has the right to decline boxes that do not meet the requirements above.

Water sport equipment
Windsurf equipment: Windsurf equipment bag may consist of: a board, a mast, sail and a boom.
Kitesurf equipment: Kitesurf equipment bag may consist of a board and a kite bag (all in one bag).
Surf/body board equipment: Surf/body board equipment bag may consist of 1 surf/body board & all fins must be removed.

For all equipment the following applies
Maximum length bag/equipment: 292 cm.
Maximum weight: 23 kg.
If weight is between 23-32 kg, an excess weight fee of USD 40 applies in addition to the $50 fee for the transport of the equipment bag.


Only limited space is available on Fokker 50 and Fokker 70 aircraft.
Equipment bag will be sent on the next available MD-80 flight.
InselAir may ask you to drop off your equipment ahead of your flight as your equipment might be transported to its final destination on another flight.
Passengers are allowed to bring only one piece of equipment bag per flight.
A flat fee of USD 50 applies per bag, one-way, for all non-USA destinations.
A flat fee of USD 100 applies per bag, one-way, for all USA destinations.
All transportation of equipment must be submitted to InselAir Customer Service Department* at the time of reservation.
We advise you to book your flight and plan the transportation of equipment ahead of time since space on aircraft is limited.

Scuba-Dive equipment
Important: Scuba tanks are only allowed if tank is completely empty. Gauge should be working properly and should display 0 (ZERO, no pressure).

Scuba equipment may consist of 1 scuba tank and 1 equipment bag (all in one bag).
All scuba equipment must be packed separately from regular luggage.
All divers receive a 10kg (22lbs) bag extra for scuba gear.
A flat fee of USD 40 applies if weight of scuba gear is between 10 and 23 kgs.
A flat fee of USD 80 applies if weight of scuba gear is between 23 and 32 kgs.
For extra/excess luggage allowance and fees please check regular luggage regulations.
All scuba equipment transportation must be submitted to the Customer Service Department* at the time of reservation. Weight cannot be combined with regular luggage.

Bicycles
Bicycle (and/or parts) should be packed in an appropriate box (1 box).
Maximum measurements box: L + H + W = 158 cm.
1 bicycle allowed per passenger.
Maximum weight: 23 kgs.
If weight is between 23-32 kg, flat fee of USD 40 applies.
Bicycles cannot be transported on the EMB-110 and limited space is available on Fokker 50  and Fokker 70 aircraft.
Equipment bag will be sent on the next available MD-80 flight.

Golf bags
A golf bag may consist of clubs, balls and small clothing. USD 40 per golf bag.
Comfort Class travelers are allowed to bring one golf bag on top of their regular baggage allowance for FREE.             

 

Musical Instruments 

Musical instruments are not considered as a regular piece of luggage. A fee of USD 2.20 per kg will be charged. If instrument is fragile and will travel in the cabin, the fee must still be paid. InselAir must be notified at reservation that you will be travelling with a musical instrument.

 

Televisions

A television is not a regular piece of luggage. A 35” inch television a fee of USD 40 will be charged. 2nd television will be charged USD $80. If television is between 35” – 42 inch a oversize fee of USD 40 applies on top of the regular fee. Insel does not allow televisions over 42” inch on board it’s aircraft. These must be transported as cargo. 

 

Freezone baggage

InselAir gives a discount for Freezone excess baggage. All Freezone baggage can be up to 23kg.

If Freezone baggage is more than 23kg and not heavier than 32kg a flat fee of USD 40 applies.

1st piece up to 23kg free

 2nd piece up to 23kg USD 40

 3rd piece or more up to 23kg USD 80 each
